Thinking Maps

At Haumoana School we are learning to identify, understand and use Thinking Maps.  Thinking Maps® were developed as a language for learning in 1988 by Dr. David Hyerle. There are eight maps in this language that are used for reading comprehension, writing process problem solving, and thinking skills improvement.  In order for you to help your children, I will be posting some information about these Thinking Maps over the next few weeks.  Each Map has a purpose.

Circle Map – Defining in Context
Bubble Map – Describing
Double Bubble Map – Comparing and Contrasting
Tree Map – Classifying and grouping

Bridge Map – Showing relationships
Flow Map – Sequencing
Brace Map – Part-Whole
Multi-flow Map  -  Cause & Effect
